Happy Anniversary

Today is our 13th wedding anniversary! 13 Lucky Years!! According to Hallmark, the gift for a 13th year is textile??? lieu of a bail of cotton, I decided to make my anniversary card (we're not big into anniversary gifts). Here's what I made...

I haven't done much crafting over the last couple days, but I did complete my journal card for the theme, "Surprise". I decided to surprise myself by trying some new crafting techniques. I did a faux oxidized metal patina for the background, stamped tissue paper, stamped foam, a UTEE picture charm and embossed tissue paper over a picture. I liked them all but the embossed tissue looks all right, but not like it did in the book.

Harry Potter Day!!!

Today is the day the last book in the Harry Potter series comes out. We're planning to pick up a copy on CD on our way to the Renfest!

Yesterday, I made this jewelry set. I had to make reverse stamps of the flower and leaf first, then stamp the little rectangles and color them with metallic pigments. All the findings are handmade as well. I learned a trick for making the jump rings: roll a 'spring' around a paint brush handle, pencil or rounded pliers (depending on what size you want) then just cut a straight line down one side of the spring and voila...jump rings.
Speaking of making reverse stamps...this is the start of some cartouche jewelry I decided to make. The hieroglyphs are my name...backwards! I forgot to carve the stamp in reverse!!! Oh well...who will know...except an, that's the first person I'll see the first time I wear the jewelry!!

TGI Thursday??

I've been feeling like it's Friday all day...only Thursday. Not much of interest has happened lately, but I have finished my cards for another ATC swap (Recipe for a Collage). In this one, we had to create an ATC using 5 punched dots, 2 toothpicks, an original background, 2 visual textures and fabric. Here is what my little mind invented:
Speaking of collage, I created this pin of my mother. I just added to it over time as I thought of something new. I made it for a sweater that was knitted for me.

Here is a picture of the lastest set of domino jewelry I made today. I made a set for me and one for my mom...both look the same.

Where did the weekend go??

Well, another weekend gone. I found a lot of good crafting stuff at the flea market this week...I loaded up on paper punches and I found a mini set of dominos that will be perfect for earrings! I took some time to go hiking and Geocaching on Sunday and found a roll of aluminum foil (for my foil & string cards) and a neat green glass bottle. That doesn't include the stuff I found in the actual caches.

I'm also half way complete with the ATC for the Clowns swap...which have to be hand-drawn or painted...I opted for can't tell in the picture, but the little tear has Liquid Diamond on it to add a little sparkle and dimension.

Another ATC Completed

I've just completed my ATC for the Creepy Carnival swap on What do you think?

This is my mini art journal card for the theme, "Inspiration Found". I was in a crafty mood this morning after getting a really nice email from Michelle Johnson...and I realized her website "Crafted by Us" is what has inspired me to try all the different crafts I've done. My card has pictures of the crafts I've done that were featured on Michelle's website...and I've attached an awesome Scrabble charm that she sent me with the ATCs from the swap she hosted.

This is a Domino necklace and earrings I made...yes, I got the idea from Michelles' podcast! :-)

I had my niece, Shannon, staying with me for a couple of days. She is also a crafter, so we had a very good time. She made a Scrabble tile bracelet, a necklace and quilled a card...then we went and saw "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"!

I made my journal cards for the theme "Birds" and "My Bedroom". The bedroom is the one I stay in at Mom's house (which has been dubbed 'My Room'). She actually made the bed herself using trees on the property, clothes line and an air mattress! We call it the Sway-back Bed because as the clothes line stretches over a couple days, I end up sucked into the middle of the bed like a hammock.
I completed my ATCs for the Protect & Serve swap on do you think?
I also made this little face pin, but I'm not sure if I like it or not???

Happy July!

I spent last weekend at flea markets and hiking. I picked up a scrabble game, dominos and a silver chain for my crafts at the flea market and some little red beads and tree moss from the hike (not sure where the red beads came from...). So...I used the scrabble pieces to make a charm bracelet of goofy pictures of my husband, Bo. I got a few compliments on it at our 4th of July picnic. I also make necklace and earrings out of polymer clay to go with a shirt I was wearing at the time. Whatta ya think?
