New Jewelry

I got a book from the library on making wire jewelry, "Making Colorful Wire & Beaded Jewelry" by Linda Jones This is my first try at it.

It was fairly easy except one must build up callus' on the forefinger and thumb of the bending hand. This was all done with 20 gauge silver wire that I got from the section at Lowes where they stock the picture hanging supplies.

Book Page Swap & Watercolor Technique

I've finished my cards for the Book Page swap at ATCards. The idea was to use any theme but include a page from a book on the collage. I didn't really have a theme...unless, use the tidbits from other projects is a theme.

I also completed the first technique challenged hosted by Crafted By Us. This idea is to paint random patches of color onto wet watercolor paper. After it dries, you are supposed to pick out any images you see and outline them. Well...I looked at them...walked away...came back later and looked at them again...and decided all I could see was some dinosaur/bunny looking thing, a kinda flower shape and a leaf on one. The other had a sorta brown sun and a fat cat/dog/animal face like image...I think the leaf is the only shape that really looked like a real object. :-)

A Place To Bark

Bernie Berlin, author of "Artist Trading Card Workshop" (the book Michelle is using for her technique challenge) runs a full-time dog rescue. Right now she is competing against some other organizations to win a $50,000 grant that will be used to further her dog rescue efforts. And, she is asking for our help. In order to win the grant she has to be in the top four for number of donations. You can help by donating as little as ten dollars (or more if you wish.) And, there is extra incentive!
There are several artists donating items to the cause. I believe the items will be given away at the end of the fund drive but you should visit the site to be sure of the exact details.

I've joined the cause...let's hope she wins...for the dogs and cats!

Another Day...

OK, I've decided to start getting back to my original creative passion, which is photography. I've got an awesome camera and all the accessories, so I should do something with it. I've started the "Photography 101: 12 Weeks to Better Photos" course at Two Peas in a Bucket. Two Peas is actually a scrapbooking site, but they have a whole area on photography. This course has a new block of instruction and challenge every week. I missed Week 1, but just did Week 2 (you can follow the link to see my results). Not impressive, but the idea was to understand shutter speed and ISO.

I'm also still waiting on the ATC book to come in at the library to play along with Michelle's new technique challenge. She's posted the first technique which sounds pretty straight forward...I just might try it without the book.

Happy New Year!!

We spent New Year's Eve at a friend's party and watched the fireworks off Pike's Peak at midnight...still haven't taken down the Christmas decorations yet.

I made this bracelet for Meiko, the kitchen attendant at the Staybridge Suites hotel I stay at in Dublin, OH every month. She is always happy to see us and sends us away with little Japanese treats nearly each visit.
