This year Easter came just too early...I mean, it's still March! Anyway, we had no big plans for today and I have to travel for business tomorrow thru Thursday, so it was mostly washing clothes and packing. I did finish a Chain Mail necklace and earrings today. It's pretty tedious, but looks great. You can look at the Chain Mail tutorial to see what I did. I bought both the Chain Mail necklace kit and the Wire Weaving necklace kit at Hobby Lobby. They were made by The Jewelry Workshop and only cost $8. Here is the finished necklace and earrings:

Cancer Survivor Crafts

My neighbor, Sharon, was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall. She was a real trooper. She never looked down even though she had to be scared and was sick thru most of the chemo treatments. She recently had her surgery and was given a clean bill of health...she's probably at work as I type this. We took over some Dairy Queen sundaes on the Friday of her first week back at work, but I thought she deserved something more. So what does one do with a newly acquired skill in metal embossing and a small cigar box??? They make a Survivor Trinket Box. I also made her a Survivor bracelet to put in it since my husband said, "What?! Are just going to hand her an empty box??" He's the sensitive type. :-) Anyway, here they are:

I also tried my hand at braiding wire. I made a necklace and earrings. The stones I used are amethyst. The technique is pretty simple. I actually started a tutorial blog and the wire weaving tutorial is my first.

A New Craft

Well...I found a book at the library on metal embossing and decided to try my hand at it. It's actually not that hard and is a craft I can complete in one sitting...which is how I like to work. The first item I made was a Renaissance medallion that I'm thinking of adding to the top of a cigar box 'treasure' box I'm going to make. The second item I made is a light switch plate that I'm going to mount in my office.

I also made a Scrabble tile mini art bracelet. I used three tiles with my initials. I did a mini collage on the "S" tile, a watercolor sunset scene on the "A" tile and an acrylic mountain scene on the "M" tile. I filled in the rest of the bracelet with cloissaine beads and added a tiny dragonfly charm at the clasp.
