MIM Challenge

Today's Make It Monday challenge from Go Make Something is to make something with an Alice in Wonderland theme. I happened to have this great Cheshire Cat graphic that was perfect for this tag. All I used was a manila tag, Distress Ink, a marker, scissors and what to do with it?? :-)

I also made this card for my mom, who will be spending a couple days to take care of me following surgery this week. I thought she deserved a home made Thank You.

Message In A Bottle Update

I got my first Message in a Bottle today!! It was full of craft goodies and was just plain fun to get in the mail...too bad I missed our mail man, Mike. I'm sure he got a kick out of it too. I forgot to take a picture of the bottle (plain, old water bottle), but this is what I got in my bottle:

Here is what I've decided to put in my bottles:

Gotta go drinks some water...I need a second bottle!

Chalk ATC and Inked Card

I decided to try my hand at stenciling with chalk. I got the idea from the book, "Handmade Art Nouveau Cards". It won't win any awards, but I liked the 'soft' look it has. I used a metal dragonfly stencil, Stampin' Up chalks and a paint brush...just that easy.

I started this card based on some tutorials from the Freedom in Creating blog. Lisa does some really great stuff with stamps and ink. The horse stamp is from a Stampin' Up set that I got at the flea market. I loaded the stamp with Versamark and Archival black ink, then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I colored in the horses with ink markers and the background with colored pencil. I used a Ranger embossing brush pen to cover the whole image and embossed it with clear powder again. Then I masked off the bottom with scrap paper and sponged in the sky with 3 shades of blue ink. I reversed the mask and did the bottom with 2 shades of tan/brown ink. I'm not finished with it, but haven't decided what I'm going to add yet...

Now I have lost my crafting mind! I've just signed up for Lisa's Message In A Bottle mail art project. Can't wait to see what happens with this!

Birthday Wishes

Today was our neighbor, John's, 60th birthday party. We all surprised him at the Flying W Ranch...complete with cowboys hats. John is an avid fisherman, so I had to make a card that featured fishing. I got my layout idea from the weekly Inks Stains Sketch, which is a layout sketch for cards, ATCs, or whatever. The sketch included a pocket and tag. I used that idea for this card:

Collage Game

I'm taking an idea I got from a Crafted By Us podcast a step further. On the podcast, Michelle was creating a collage by drawing pieces of paper saying what to do. I really liked that idea and have been toying with having a collage party ever since. I've finally started creating my game pieces from Grungeboard. Each one will say something like paint, ink, distress, emboss, text, image or something like that. Now...I just need to plan the party...

Under the Big Top ATC Swap

Although I've been sluggish on doing ATC swaps this summer, I did just finish my cards for the Under the Big Top swap. I used the Tim Holtz Wrinkle Free Distress method for the background on the cards then stamped them with a stars stamp and Faded Jeans Distress Ink. I took my favorite circus pictures, some red sequins, clear beads, glitter and tissue paper and went to town.

My First Craft Show!

I did my first craft show today! I shared a booth at the Green Mountain Falls Bronc Days with my friend, Jill, who is a pastel artist. There was alot of interest, but sales weren't what everyone was expecting. Still, it was a great experience and I wouldn't mind doing it again...provided I was sharing a booth. I think it would be hugely boring otherwise.
