15th Wedding Anniversary

My husband and I celebrated 15 loooonnng years together yesterday…the ‘looonnng’ is a joke…we are truly best friends.  We did nothing special, just spent time together at a museum and such.  He bought me a dichroic fused glass pendant with dragonflies.  Since fusing glass is my latest thing, it was perfect.  You can see it in some of the photos.  We also took photographs of ourselves in my studio.  Since Mr. Man did the lighting for the President (yes, of the United States) in his past life, he gave me some really good tips on lighting…I’m sure you can tell which I did and which he did.

Fused Glass Jewelry

This is a simple necklace and earrings that I created with fused glass.  Since all fused items are unique, it took some time to get two small pieces that were alike enough for a set of earrings.  I used a kit that includes a microwave kiln that I purchased at Hobby Lobby.  It comes with everything you need to start, including the findings for the jewelry.

A Tri-fold Birthday Card

Bev’s mother, Mary, had a birthday this past Saturday.  I made this tri-fold card (I think zig-zag card would be a better name, but I didn’t invent it).  I got to use my new Glimmer Mist (which arrived Friday) on the stamped butterflies…great stuff.  I also got to use my new Indie Art Cricut cartridge to create the smaller butterflies.  This cart has some really cool designs.  It’s a bit difficult to see in the picture, but I used Tattered Rose Distress Ink to stamp more butterflies and foliage on the light patterned paper.  The butterflies and foliage are both Tim Holtz stamps from sets I purchased at Michaels.

Another Crocheted Purse Necklace and the Latest Studio Shots

Here is another crocheted purse necklace that I created using the podcast from Crafted By Us. I did this one in black with black and dusty aubergine beads. The charm says “believe”.

These are the latest pictures of my studio. I still have to frame the doors and window and build the counter that will take the place of the table under the window. I’m also going to cover all the counters with reclaimed bowling alley lane material. The stuff is indestructible…perfect for me! The recliner was my husband’s grandfather’s chair. It desperately needs recovered, but otherwise it’s really comfortable.

Just An Update

I haven't had anything new to post as I've been working on my studio and hanging out with birthday boy. Bo set up the surround sound system in my studio, so I now have some tune while I create. Unfortunately, during the process of carrying in the equipment, I left the door open and my precious pup walked thru all the mud he could find that happily trotted into my studio. I yelled his name when I saw him, which startled him and resulted in a cartoon like spinning of the feet on the wood floor causing him to sling mud all over the place!! I'm still finding little splotches in the oddest places.

New Bookmarks

I made these bookmarks for a quick project to kill some time. I used manila tags and blended Distress Inks on them then stamped them with Tim Holtz stamps. I embossed the bird on the Dreams marker and added some Distress Stickles around the edges. The other has some mini grungeboard elements that I painted with Distress Crackle paints. I added Distress Stickles to the wings and around the edges of the tag. Both got a nice gob of fibers to finish them off. I'm going to give the Dreams bookmark to my friend and co-manager, Cheryl. I'm keeping the Live Life bookmarker...I like the Harry Potter reference with the flying key. :-)

Glimmer Mist Has A New Look!

Glimmer Mist is the same great product with a Fabulous NEW Look!! All the bottle are hand labeled at the warehouse in Loveland, CO. The bottles will now have screen printed labels to make it a bit easier on the crafters, who mix, bottle and label each one.
