Casablanca Beads

I took my first stab at making polymer clay ‘Casablanca’ beads.  I found the tutorial for the beads on Desired Creations.  I used Desire’s how-to to create a jig for my clay roller, which worked out wonderfully and made making the Skinner blends much easier.  I made the first batch using clay scraps and such, so the color combinations could be better.  I used the scraps left over from cutting the beads to make accent beads.

The second batch I made in shades of blue.

August Craft Party

We had our August Craft Party this past Saturday. This was the first event in my new studio! We are working on plastic canvas tote bags. When finished, they will have a cloth lining with pockets a scissor case and a needle case. It will be some time before I'm finished, but I've seen the finished version and they are really neat. Bev was the 'instructor' for this one as she is the authority on plastic canvas items...she's made a tissue holder for every room of my house!! :-)

Neighbor’s Birthday Card

My neighbor, Sharon’s, birthday is today, so I made this tri-fold card for her.  I used the Cricut to cut the butterflies and rose then coated them with glitter glue.  I edged everything with Distress Inks and used flower shaped brads to hold the beads to the card.   The stamped butterflies were from the Tim Holtz collection and the stamped medallions were from Stampin’ Up.  I adhered them with pop dots.

Custom Flip Flops

My friend, Jill, gave me some plain white flip flops to embellish a couple months ago.  Well, I finally finished them.  Very simple…just wrap yard or ribbon or whatever you want around the straps like a million and a half times, secure with E6000 glue or something similarly strong.  I added a white flower with a iridescent gem in the middle to each.  It’s hard to see in the picture, but I also used a permanent marker to color the edges purple.

Faux Leather Technique and another Crocheted Necklace

I finally got around to trying Michael Strong’s faux letter technique for a birthday card for my father-in-law.  Basically, all it takes is card stock, ink, a stamp, water & Mod-Podge.  Pretty easy for a really cool look.

I also completed another crocheted necklace.  I really enjoy doing these, so who knows how many I’ll end up doing.  :-)  The tutorial can be found at Crafted By Us.

OK, so I’m wondering how many years one should take off one's life for being married to a lunatic! I was in my studio and had just finished taking pictures of the above crocheted necklace, so the main lights were down low and the studio lights were off. Bo comes creeping in thru the exterior door (that I had locked) all hunched over. I nearly broke his eardrums screaming. He's lucky I wasn't holding something heavy!!
